This year in ESS, we will focus on global 21st century issues that threaten our beautiful planet. It will be the responsibility of this and future generations to find solutions to these problems through raising awareness, discovering new technology, rewarding innovation, and by passing legislation. This blog will reflect the voice of every earth and space science student in Ms. B's classes during the 2013-2014 school year.

On Wednesday, I did not use my car at all. I rode my bike to school, walked to my friends house and rode my bike to work. I enjoyed it actually because I love being outdoors and just little things like riding your bike instead of driving makes a difference on the planet. It also reminded how much I miss my bike.
ReplyDeleteOn Sunday, May 25, I chose not to use any carbon-producing transportation. I rode my bike to church in the morning. I also rode my ripstick to my friends house. Later that afternoon I got him to ride his scooter to whataburger with me while I rode my ripstick. It was a fun opportunity for us to bond with each other and help save the environment. I love to be outside, so this option was the best for me. It was a fun experience.
ReplyDeleteOn Thursday I decided not to use my car. I rode to school on my bike instead of taking my car like I normally do. It didn't take me that long to get there on my bike compared to my car. I didn't realize how long you have to wait on stop signs and stoplights when you're in a car. I also walked to the park to play soccer. It was nice being outside instead of being stuck driving.
ReplyDeleteThis Tuesday, I did not drive my car to school and to a senior reception at my old elementary school. It was fun to enjoy the weather and is great to get out and be active and not sit in a car and not get exercise. It is also great not having to deal with traffic and other boredom from sitting at stops and lights. I had given up driving for the 5 day challenge a couple weeks ago and this was like I had forgotten how great it is, when it is not raining. Even just a little change can make a big impact on your life and your environment.
ReplyDeleteLast Thursday, I decided to not use carbon-producing transportation. I didn't ride the car to school and had to walk to school instead. It was extremely difficult because I didn't have a bike to speed up my walking time and the load of my backpack was heavier than it seemed. Walking back home was hard as well, and others offered me rides as I was walking. I refused their offers and continued walking to my house. Although I walked home before, it still exhausted me, but I felt that I contributed to saving the environment, even a little.
ReplyDeleteI attempted to do this challenge last week, and it went pretty well! I did drive to school however I had someone else drive me so I somewhat twisted the rules. However once I got home from school I didn't drive anywhere and I went on a walk for fun from my house to a pond! It wasn't too hard but I don't think I could do it everyday because I have no clue how I would really get anywhere!!
