can you go strictly vegan for one full day?

Challenge 1-How difficult is it to be a vegan? Now that you're Vegucated, try out a healthy, vegan diet for one full day, based on veggies, fruit, whole grains, and legumes. Comment on your experience, noting what you ate and how you felt.

  1. It's is very difficult, almost impossible, everything in my fridge was basically non vegan. The milk and meat and food was all non vegan. So my dad and I went to sprouts and got salad with shredded almonds and cranberry. But then later after I had that I got really hungry quickly and so I went back to the store and bought a lot of fruit, lots and lots of fruit and so I just ate that along with my double stuffed Oreos. Then for desert I dipped the double Oreo cookies into the almond milk that tasted exactly like almonds but with a little sweet taste to it.

  2. It wasn't terribly difficult for me to go vegan for a day, the biggest problem I ran into was not being able to find as much protein as I would have liked to, I ate things like nuts and legumes. I think my vegan diet was fairly sustainable, I ate a breakfast of only fruit, and I drank a small glass of soy milk. For lunch I had a peanut butter sandwich made from organic peanut butter and bread the would qualify as vegan. When I got home I ate some peanut butter and apples. For dinner, I had a burrito bowl from chipotle, with vegetables instead of meat. If I hadn't gone to chipotle for dinner, I believe I would have stayed home to cook some type of pasta, but I would have to do some research into what pastas qualify as vegan.
Throughout the day as a vegan, I never felt the heavy feeling you get after eating too much, however I'm not sure if it was from eating better or because I just ate less

  3. This is the second time I'm typing this because my first one didn't post:/ Going vegan for a day wasn't that hard because i had to be vegan for a whole week when we did the no impact challenge. I ate a lot of fruit and veggies and i even ate a yogurt made with coconut milk that was vegan. Gif I'm being honest, I could never for vegan for good or even go vegetarian, because I love meat too much! I could minimize the amount of meat i consume though!! Overall, It was an interesting experience.

  4. Although It was certainly challenging to avoid animal based products for an entire day it was not impossible by any means. In the modern world of convenience we have a tremendous amount of variety to the food we consume. For example instead adding milk to my cream of wheat I simply used water. The taste difference was not that noticeable. As a matter of fact I found my stomach to be calmer than usual. Maybe I'm lactose intolerant... You never know! For lunch I had a fresh fruit salad with lots of seasonal fruit I felt really refreshed and was able to keep my energy up through the day. So overall I felt better both mentally and physically.

  5. Going vegan for a day was a very interesting experience. Going through this class has really taught me what it takes to be a vegan. It was hard to change not eating any by products from any animals, but I was able to control myself for one day. I didn't eat breakfast on friday because on most days I skip that meat anyway. For lunch I had oatmeal with water instead of milk. The only reason I thought about that was because of Brandon Berens had that for breakfast and the idea of that really got me in the mood. For dinner I had no idea what I wanted to eat, so I really didn't eat anything. It was a very hard day for me. Maybe I thought I knew how to eat vegan but I really didn't know.

I feel good that I accomplished this for a day and I'm thinking about picking one day a week to not eat any meat. It will be hard to stop but I'm going to try.

  6. Going vegan for one full day was so hard for me. I love meat so much and eat it everyday. Going vegan for one day a week is something I cannot do. But I will try to going with electricity for one day a week so I can make a contribution. My stomach just wanted more and more meat and I noticed a difference when I did not eat meat for the day. Especially since I had soccer practice and my body felt different.m

  7. It wasn't too hard to go vegan for a day. Given the fact that I typically have to eat a vegetarian diet at home, the change wasn't too difficult. The only animal based products I typically eat are milk, chicken, and eggs. Instead eating those, I decided to substitute it with vegetables and fruits such as strawberries, mangos, blueberries, cauliflower, potatoes, etc. It's something I could easily continue to make a daily habit. Additionally, it has several benefits that traditional diets do not have.

  8. Being a vegan for one day was not that hard, I didn't even know I was changing my diet. Yesterday, I had work, but I usually eat fries and pizza with lots of meat and cheese on my pizza. For breakfast yesterday I eat a granola bar. I usually eat cherries with lost of milk and coffee with milk as well. I was running late so I had to grab a small packet. It was supinely filling, and I did not get hungry until about 2. For lunch I eat a Greek salad with no cheese on it because lie cheese is gross and has mold on it. I did. It add the dressing in it because the Greek dressing is gross, but I added orange sleeves and strawberries. For dinner, I eat a Caesar salad with extra virgin oil on it. It was a pretty easy day-- being vegan does not seem that hard if you just make the right choices!

  9. Going vegan for a day was quiet interesting, yes it was hard but I enjoyed it. This past week, Friday was my vegan day, usually Fridays I go out for lunch, and dinner with friends. Yes it was difficult cause I was starving and I wasn't on my normal food eating pattern. I had plenty of fruit and potatoes throughout the day, eating these I felt healthier and energized, I didn't feel guilty for the animals and my body felt great, my stomach wasn't upset like it usually does after I eat fast food. I know that I will be reducing the amount of animal made foods and eating more vegaterianand vegan like foods.

  10. I went vegan all of Saturday. I went to the farmers market to get fruit to eat that day but I didn't do the meal with local foods because I felt that being vegan for a day was more challenging to me. It was really hard staying vegan for Saturday because I had to go to graduation parties and I couldn't eat the cake or BBQ at the parties. I was actually proud of myself that I had the will power to stay vegan for even a day.

  11. Going vegan for an entire day was intersting and slightly difficult. This past week, I did my Vegan day on Thursday. Taking meat out of my diet was the easiest part, but taking dairy out was quite hard. Thursday morning I had a huge bowl of fruit for breakfast because I wasnt sure what else I could eat. For lunch I ate a plain salad and some vegetables. Luckily I really do like salads and veggies so that wasnt to hard. Finding something for dinner was the hardest part and no one was home to make anything vegan for me, so I ended up making myself another salad which was fine and delicious. Going completley Vegan is quite interesting and harder than one would think. I was very impressed that I was able to go vegan for an entire day and I well definitely be eating less meat products that I do now.

  12. The vegan challenge was fairly difficult for me in some aspects, because I prefer to consume some dairy products including large amounts of milk. I typically have oatmeal or protein shakes for breakfast, so this was not much of a challenge. My diet also includes peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch which made my day relatively easy to get through while under a vegan diet. I had a vitamin and vegetable drink during dinner time to complete the day. Usually I would have a couple glasses of milk minimum throughout the day which was a factor I had to remove from my daily diet. I do not have a large diet of meat and it was not difficult to prevent myself from consuming.

  13. I went vegan all day on Saturday. For breakfast I had oatmeal with a banana. For lunch I had bocca nuggets with some broccoli and for dinner I had whole wheat pasta with broccoli and carrots. It was definitely a struggle because my family was eating different food and it looked really good, so it was very tempting to cheat. Becoming a vegetarian might be something that I think about in the future, but going completely vegan probably won't happen for me just because I like the other food way too much to give it up. This was definitely a fun experience though!
