  10. A mineral is a naturally occurring, inorganic compound with a unique chemical structure and physical properties. While a rock is a solid stony mass composed of a combination of minerals or other organic compounds. For example, quartz and feldspars are minerals, but when they’re formed together the make the rock, Granite. After finding those definitions, my first thought was that I’d want a mineral for jewelry, because it would be a pure, simple substance/look. Then, after doing more research, I found that a diamond is a mineral… and decided that my original opinion on what type of jewelry I’d want was a good one. When compounds are classified as minerals, it’s because they’ve bonded together in a specific chemical recipe or proportion.
